Step 1: Clean Your Hot Tub

Impurities from Oil, lotions, skin, etc will build up in your hot tub if not maintained. The first step is to get it as clean as possible.

Before draining your hot tub, the pipes need to be cleaned. We recommend a citric acid treatment like our Mineral Fix Spa Deep Cleaner.

Once the treatment has soaked for ~24 hours, the hot tub is ready to be drained and refilled. Empty the tub completely and wipe down all surfaces. Run water through the filtration system to flush out any loose debris in the pipes. We also recommend using a shopvac to blow out the water in the pipes.

Now refill the hot tub with clean water! We recommend putting the hose into the filter pipe to ensure air is purged from the line as you are filling.

Step 2: Treat your Water

After the cleaned hot tub is refilled, it's important to test and treat the water so that it begins clean.

Optional: Shock the water with a higher dose of chlorine to kill any bacteria. We like the Clorox 6in1 shock. Run the jets with the spa open for 30-60 minutes to allow Chlorine to gas off.

If you added Chlorine - Wait 24 hours before adding Mineral Fix. Test again to ensure water is balanced. Add Mineral Fix Spa Treatment directly into the water. Use the full bottle for a standard hot tub (450-600 gallons) or use the calculator to determine how much you need.

Note: The spa treatment is a Brownish green color, any discoloration of the water will fade after about 24 hours

Step 3: MaintAIN

Mineral Fix works by grouping impurities in the water so that they can be filtered out by your hot tub filters. It's important to maintain new, clean filters.

After the initial water treatment, clean the filters 2-3 days later by hosing them off with a pressure nozzle. Clean as needed going forward

May need to add some chlorine shock weekly after your initial cleaning.

(Optional) Step 4: Enhance

Your hot tub is now a Mineral Fix treated spa, but adding enzymes can further improve your water quality. Recommended to add 1oz 30ml weekly.

Enzymes help to breakdown impurities that get into the water like sweet, oils, and lotions. Using enzymes on a regular basis will help to prevent scum lines around the top of the water.
